I know, it’s probably your first time doing this so it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’m dedicated to writing a series of posts here, for the next couple of weeks to help you organise your ideas and your to-do list.

💗Book your big things first, like venue and find your dress: yes, there is no point in you coming to us with no wedding date or without knowing where you’re getting ready. We really need this info before we can book you in.

💗Find the right artist for you: there are lots of ways to find great artists, but start contacting people you already know or follow. You can get great recommendations from this group, from the wedding suppliers list and narrow down by venue, you can also find great professionals using # on Instagram like #weddingmakeupartist #bridalmakeupdublin #naturalglam and so on.

💗Book your artist: once you find someone great, and that is available for your date book them straight away (usually they’ll ask for a deposit to secure your date). I’ve seen it more than once, where people leave it too late, and are not able to find anyone they liked with availability.

💗Gather inspiration: have your Pinterest board, and your instagram saved posts, and screenshots. Try to find looks done on people that kind of look like you (i.e. if you’re blond with blue eyes, or brunette with brown eyes, or dark skin with brown eyes, always try to find makeup looks done on people like you) because the exact same look reads differently on different people.

💗Makeup trial: have your trial done around 3 months before your wedding date. By then you’ll have pretty much all the details decided, like veil, earrings, necklace, and bouquet. Sometimes if you do your trial too early, by the time the wedding comes around you’ve changed so many things and times that you are not sure anymore what you like and what you want. I also like to talk about your wedding morning times that day.

💗2 months before your wedding: keep doing everything you’re doing in terms of skincare and don’t change them until your wedding day. Now is not the time to try anything new, especially acids, peelings, and so on. Keep doing what you were doing as our skin tends to get a bit more reactive when we are stressed or anxious (not saying you are or will be, but you’re better safe than sorry)

💗Week before the wedding: time to talk to your makeup artist, confirm times again, and pay the final balance. Also, make sure everyone knows where you’re getting ready and talk to your bridal party so they know when to be available as well.

If you’re flying from abroad, give special attention to your skin and make sure to rehydrate your skin (I like spritzing thermal water during the flight and if I have time some hydrating face mask during the flight as well).

💗Night before the wedding: Try to get a great night’s sleep and drink lots of water - but I know that often doesn’t happen for many reasons. But please try. And if you have the time do a face mask before bed even better! (your artist and your skin will thank you later!)

💗Wedding morning: everything you could possibly have done in terms of organising and choosing is already done so is time to relax and enjoy. Let the great professionals you hired do their job and enjoy your time with your girls. Have a playlist of your favourite songs, a speaker, some food, and bubbles and you’ll be set for a great start!

💗Tears and touch-ups: everything should be waterproof and resistant (you can cry as much as you want as long as you don’t drag, just dab). If applied properly your makeup should last until you go to bed. But if is a hot day or you have an oily T zone, I recommend you have a setting powder with you along with your lipstick to touch up.

I hope it helps, and I see you next week.
